Where History Meets Contemporary Culture

A Second Life

A Second Life

For decades, the Pasquino was Trastevere’s cinema — the only place in Rome where you could watch films in their original language. Then, for thirty years, it fell silent. Closed, forgotten, slowly reclaimed by time. Today, after a meticulous restoration that preserved every iconic detail — the original walls, the atmosphere, and the legendary retractable roof, now reborn in glass to flood the space with natural light — the Pasquino lives again. Not just as a cinema, but as something Rome has never seen before.

History has a Seat

The Pasquino’s soul lives in its perfect balance of intimacy and conviviality. The auditorium is dressed with elegant wooden and fabric seats rescued from a theatre facing demolition — salvaged pieces of history, given a second life in a space that knows something about second chances. Yet this is no ordinary cinema experience: here, you can watch a performance from the comfort of a vintage theatre seat, a glass of wine in hand, or settle around one of our tables and let the evening unfold at your own pace. Two worlds, one space — and the choice is always yours.

Accessibility

Accessibility

Accessibility at Pasquino means two things: a space that welcomes the world, and a space that welcomes everyone. Linguistically, we carry forward the Pasquino’s original tradition of original-language screenings — a commitment to cinema without borders. All talks, conferences, and events benefit from a real-time translation and subtitling system, making every cultural experience fully accessible to an international audience. Physically, the Pasquino is designed for everyone. Situated at street level with full ramp access, it welcomes visitors of all abilities. Subtitles are available for all screenings, and — uniquely in the world — haptic vests allow deaf visitors to experience the full emotional power of film and live music through touch and vibration. Because culture should leave no one behind.
