Where History Meets Contemporary Culture

A Second Life

A Second Life

For decades, the Pasquino was Trastevere’s cinema — the only place in Rome to watch films in their original language. Then, for thirty years, it fell silent: closed, forgotten, reclaimed by time. Today, after a meticulous restoration preserving its iconic walls, atmosphere, and the legendary retractable roof — now reborn in glass — the Pasquino lives again. Not just as a cinema, but as something Rome has never seen before.

History has a Seat

The Pasquino’s soul lies in its balance of intimacy and conviviality. The auditorium features elegant wooden and fabric seats salvaged from a theatre facing demolition — pieces of history given a second life. Yet this is no ordinary cinema: watch from a vintage seat with a glass of wine, or settle at a table and let the evening unfold at your own pace. Two worlds, one space — the choice is yours.

Accessibility

Accessibility

Accessibility at Pasquino means welcoming the world and everyone in it. We continue the tradition of original-language screenings, with real-time translation and subtitling for talks and events, making every experience open to an international audience. The space is fully accessible at street level, with subtitles for all screenings. Haptic vests allow deaf visitors to experience film and live music through touch and vibration — because culture should leave no one behind.

Flexible Cultural Space
